The Studio.

What is your background?

I graduated from ESMOD international Paris in fashion design and knitwear section. I worked as a stylist in Paris and then as a store manager in ready-to-wear on the Atlantic coast.

As I missed the creation, I wanted to come back to my first passion and I created "Apolline des Fougères" in 2020 which is composed of two branches: the textile design and the creation of women's ready-to-wear collection.

Describe your style.

Apolline is modern, refined, feminine and sporty.

She is never far from the ocean or the sea, which she cannot do without!

She loves bold and dynamic colors!

Floral and geometric prints are her favorite.

What are your main inspirations / influences ?

My main sources of inspiration come from nature, but also from my various travels, as well as from everything related to the artistic field.

The ocean and the sea are part of Apolline's DNA, as I live by the Atlantic Ocean and a trip to Polynesia has particularly inspired me and continues to do so day after day...

Which place inspires you the most?

South Brittany and Polynesia...and wherever the ocean or the sea is close....

What sets off your passion for prints?

Since kindergarten, I have always been into details, I used to decorate all my drawings with pretty borders.

However, this discovery has only recently become obvious to me, with styling I was missing an even more personal creative counterpart.

Also, prints are an excellent remedy to the gloom, their colors and shapes are full of joy and invite us to happiness!

Your first print memories.

A leopard print dress with ruffles when I was a kid, I loved this dress bought on a market in the south of France that I was only allowed to wear during the vacations.

Print is a good tool to assert yourself ;-))

Describe your creation process.

First I create a moodboard that allows me to define an atmosphere and a range of colors. At the same time, I do iconographic research on this theme in order to get as much inspiration as possible, then I draw the first elements that will constitute my design.

As if by magic, the ideas come!

Then I create my design on photoshop or illustrator then I put it in the fitting.

What is your favorite medium to work with and why?

I love digital art, photoshop and illustrator allow me to draw and paint with great freedom, even if sometimes I like to draw my first ideas by hand and I don't mind a little paint.

While working, what do you listen?

None, the sound of nature allows me to devote myself solely to creation. I must admit that the view of the ocean and the singing of the birds help me a lot!

What is your job's favorite part ?

I love the moment when the print appears all over the screen, it's at that moment that everything takes shape, but the finality is to see the print materialize on a real product!

What type of product / sector do you mainly work for ?

I work mainly for the fashion industry and especially for everything related to beachwear, sportswear, homewear...., but also for home linen and decoration.

On which fairs do you exhibit?

None for the moment, I bet a lot on digital, then I'll see...

I think that digital will become the main marketing channel. For buyers, ordering printed materials through digital trade shows and websites is so convenient and time saving!

What do you want to accomplish in the future?

Apolline des Fougères could become a textile design studio with associates in full remote.

I would also like to develop my print collaborations with beautiful brands and maybe create a personal line mixing beachwear, sportswear and homewear...who knows?

The most important thing in life is to have dreams!

The biggest challenge you had to handle as a designer?

I went from all manual to all digital ;-))
