The Studio.
Who is behind the studio?
Aurélie
What is your background?
I studied graphic design at Ecole Emile Cohl in Lyon.
I then worked as a textile designer in Paris for over 10 years.
With this experience as a graphic designer for different brands and trend agencies, I founded my studio Cocktail Maison in 2015 specialized in prints and illustrations for the fashion and lifestyle markets.
Describe your style.
I like to work in a pop and sparkling universe with a dose of humor. I pay special attention to high-energy colors and graphic details.
What are your main inspirations / influences ?
My inspiration comes from urban cultures, street art, kawaii characters and fun stuff from Asia.
Painters, typography and botanical drawings are also great sources of inspiration.
All of these creative inputs result in prints that range from fun to tropical to geometric to abstract.
Describe your creation process.
Drawing by hand is very important to me.
I always have a notebook with me, to scribble down sketches, patterns, ideas.
I stay creative and let my imagination run wild. I then select what I like best and rework my drawings on the computer.
What is your favorite medium to work with and why?
The paper medium. I love to do quick sketches with ink and felt-tip pen, for the energy and spontaneity they give off.
While working, what do you listen?
It really depends on the mood of the moment. I like to listen to Faubourg Simone, an eclectic and independent web radio.
What type of product / sector do you mainly work for ?
Cocktail Maison is fresh and cheerful illustrations and patterns for fashion, accessories, beachwear, home decor and packaging.
I also can assist you in building collections through moodboards and color ranges.
On which fairs do you exhibit?
Première Vision Paris, Interfilière, et les Prints Days de La Trame.
