Magali and Nicolas

What is your background?

Magali was trained at Duperré school Paris and then at ESAAT of Roubaix. She started as a professional with drawing and printing designs for the Las Vegas show of Celine Dion and after many others shows. Then she worked for Women and kids ready to wear as a stylist, textile designer and accesories designer for various brands.
Nicolas started his work path by working 5 years for a trend agency before working as a freelancer for trends, illustrations, licensing and packaging for agencies and brands. They meet each other in 2OO8 for a project. In 2011, with their respective universe the decided to create Constellation studio.

Describe your style.

Our style is for a young and fresh fashion, shifted and original. Placement prints and illustrations are our main focus. We like to work on the composition of our drawings, for constantly renew our graphic treatments in our themes. Animals, nature, landscape, city, sports, music are our favorite themes.

What are your main inspirations / influences ?

Magali is inspired by all that is around her, street, people, exhibitions, a record sleeve, a strange place, a landscape, the spirit of a city...
Nicolas find his ideas in music, festival, an exhibition, the discovery of a new country, video games, comics, pop culture.

Which place inspires you the most?

Magali is fascinated by the Musée de la chasse et de la nature in Paris and Nicolas is influence by the industrial part of the cities.

What sets off your passion for prints?

Magali grand mother's influenced her vision of fashion and couture because she worked as an embroiderer at Saint Laurent atelier. Then she learned couture at a very young age.
Nicolas discovered creation through Craft since his father is a carpenter. Which motivate his desire to draw.

Your first print memories.

Magali keep remenbering her grand mother's trench leopard print.
Nicolas remember of a tee-shirt with a tiger print that he share with his brother's when he was 5-6 years old.

What is your favorite medium to work with and why?

Magali like the delicacy of pencil work as the watercolor technique and also work digitaly with a pen tablet.
Nicolas like to draw and then rework his illustrations digitaly to add effects, glitch, textures, photography and typography.

While working, what do you listen?

Magali is listening to Fip radio allday long and never get bored of it. Nicolas like to listen, indies, rock or metal depeding of the work.

What type of product / sector do you mainly work for ?

We mostly work for teen and children fashion but also for women design, men design and home design, stationery and packaging.

On which fairs do you exhibit?

We are present on Premiere Vision Paris (sometimes New York) and on Prints Days. We would like to show our designs to new brands on Playtime Paris in the future.

Your best fairs memories.

Our first show stays unforgetable since we present our 2 universes for the first time.
