The Studio.

Who is behind the studio?

Elisabeth Morais

What is your background?

I graduated in textile design at the Art et Industry Center, near Lille, in the north of France.

After a few years of working in a company, I created my studio in 2006 to fully devote myself to drawing and the world of children.

Describe your style.

From a detailed pattern to simple and clean shapes, my style is poetic and modern. I really like to tell stories in my drawings, to bring a little poetry and fantasy to them and of course to work with color. The starting point of a drawing can also be a colored range.

What are your main inspirations / influences ?

It's quite varied but I would say mainly the flora and fauna.

Which place inspires you the most?

There isn't really a specific place that inspires me. It is rather the mood and the desire of the moment. A souvenir of a trip, a walk, an exhibition, the flowers that are reborn in spring, a bit of everything in a way.

What sets off your passion for prints?

I have always loved drawing and fabrics. I simply linked the two by becoming a textile designer.

Describe your creation process.

Usually each pattern is drawn by hand. I start with a sketch and then I rework it digitally to do the staging and the coloring.

What is your job's favorite part ?

Be free to draw whatever I want.

What type of product / sector do you mainly work for ?

I work mainly for babies and children, a little for fashion, more for childcare and decoration.

On which fairs do you exhibit?

Heimtextil, Kind + Jugend.

Your best fairs memories.

I would say the people we meet there.
