The Studio.
Who is behind the studio?
I am Enora LE YOUDEC
What is your background?
I am a fashion designer by training, my last experiences as an employee led me to pattern making (I made prototypes of knitwear) but I really missed the creative side. I decided to take the plunge not long ago to devote myself to textile and surface design.
Describe your style.
My style is graphic and colorful, often with strong contrasts.
What are your main inspirations / influences ?
Nature and animals are my main sources of inspiration, both in terms of shapes and color associations. It's an area that never tires of me! I also like going to see what is done in other sectors such as architecture and its ornamental decorations, embroidery, and many other know-how from here and elsewhere...
What sets off your passion for prints?
It is the passion for colors and textiles that led me to prints. When I was little, it was my grandmother herself who passed on her passion for fabrics and manual work (embroidery, knitting, crochet) to me. I grew up still having this interest and attraction for textiles and more and more for prints. I find that they bring real added value to a product, they can tell a story, affirm its style and its opinions.
Describe your creation process.
I generally draw the elements by hand, with fine felt pen or through different mediums according to the textures or effects sought. I always like to go and explore new techniques. Then I digitize them and work on the composition on the computer.
I define my color palettes in advance otherwise I would be too scattered !
What is your favorite medium to work with and why?
I love working with watercolor for its fusions of colors, sometimes improbable, but which always amazes me. I also like oil pastels for the textured side they bring to the design.
While working, what do you listen?
I am very sensitive to music, I listen to a lot of very different styles with an interest in everything that is rhythmic. I love instrumental music and unusual voices.
What is your job's favorite part ?
I would say there are two. I like the first sketches, the first drawing elements that take shape, where nothing is fixed yet.
And then the colorization step also pleases me a lot. Colors are an important part of my work, they can make all the difference and completely change the style of a design.
What type of product / sector do you mainly work for ?
I mainly work for the textile and home sectors.
What do you want to accomplish in the future?
I prepare collections that I would like to present at trade fairs to develop my activity and conquer other sectors.
