Carole Rampinetta

The Studio.

Who is behind the studio ?

Carole Rampini

 What is your background ?

After a scientific degree then a MANAA (Upgrade in applied arts) at LISAA in Nantes, I chose to train as a fashion designer at ESMOD Bordeaux then Paris, where I specialized in stage costumes. I wanted to complete my career with a year of training as an actress at La factory de l'acteur, enjoying the fact of being able to exercise my passion both on stage and behind the scenes.

After two years in the entertainment world, I created Carole Rampinetta in June 2017.

I therefore decided to have my own experience by starting my own business as a pattern illustrator.

Then, I found a job as stylist in the world of professional clothing in 2018 and therefore left my micro-business aside.

This job was educational but took me too far from what I wanted to do: play with colors and give emotions.

After the birth of my daughter Clémentine and the various confinements due to Covid, I took the plunge again and re-focused full time on Carole Rampinetta in May 2021.

Describe your style

My illustrations are often compared to Proust's madeleines which transport you to joyful, meticulous and mischievous childhood memories.

I love to introduce people to my world of illustrated fantasy through patterns that I imagine as stories and theater scenes.

My wish is to transport you to a gentle, colorful journey, a sensitive world to experience with your child's heart. And that makes you smile, a real smile that warms you up and puts you in a good mood for the day.

What are your main inspirations / influences ?

Colors are the starting point for each of my creations, I use them like a real playground. I was born in winter in Casablanca, Morocco. I am French but I am lucky to have taken my first steps under the warm Moroccan sun, lulled by a mix of Mediterranean and European culture.

Casablanca, starting point of my life, and starting point of many memories that still influence me every day. Mountains of spices, pottery and zelliges in joyful colors, landscapes in multicolored tones, the Moroccan streets gave me indelible colors.

And, Casablanca, the white city like paper where I draw

Which place inspires you the most ?

Everything can inspire me, especially if it’s colorful!

The nature that surrounds me, just like the emotions felt in certain places. It is difficult to choose only one place but Morocco, thanks to my personal history and artist workshops or shows are those that influence me the most.

What sets off your passion for prints ?

The embroidery of Moroccan tablecloths and the souks filled with pottery, souvenirs, fabric stores, wallpapers... I am lucky to have a mother who is passionate about decoration, so I have been immersed in the world of prints since I was little.

You first print memories ?

Moroccan pottery I think !

Describe your creation process

Passionate about theater and circus arts, which I have been practicing since I was 8 years old, I am passionate about telling stories and bringing beautiful emotions to life both on stage and with the help of my pencils and brushes. “Let it go” has become my mood on stage, on paper or in “real” life.

What is your favorite medium to work and why ?

As a paper lover, I work in the traditional way with gouache, which I mix with multiple other techniques such as watercolor, colored pencils, ink or pastels.

Beyond the medium, it’s especially the color that attracts me. For example, if the blue I want to work with exists in watercolor and I want to mix it with a yellow that I like in my colored pencils, I will mix the techniques. No limits on my sheet!

What type of product / sector do you mainly work for ?

I have a whole range of products with my prints on my website: fabrics, scarves, stationery, puzzles, household linens… I like the idea of drawing a pattern and imagining it on a multitude of supports.

I also work on illustration services with other brands and there too, the supports vary: packaging, scarves, fabrics…
